All students have a right to take part in educational activities at school without paying a fee, deposit or other charge. An "educational activity" is an activity offered by a school or school district that is an integral part of a student's education, including, but not limited to, curricular and extracurricular activity. Schools cannot charge or request a deposit for materials, physical education or school uniforms, or graduation caps and gowns that are required to take part in an educational activity.
San Francisco Unified School District programs, activities, and practices shall be free from discrimination based on actual or perceived race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression; or on the basis of a person’s association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
If you believe you have been discriminated against, immediately contact the school site principal and/or Executive Director of the Office of Equity, Ruth Diep, at (415) 355-7334 or email@example.com. A copy of SFUSD’s uniform complaint policy is available upon request.
